The seemingly simple images in combination with the music spark the imagination. In the safe and intimate atmosphere of Abracadabra, children are able to come into contact – perhaps for the first time – with different artistic disciplines at the same time: visual art, theatre and music.

In Abracadabra children learn about the effect of light and shadow, the basic principle of projection, in an accessible way. The performance demonstrates that with simple means it is possible to create large-scale effects. Musiscope offers tailor-made workshops to elementary schools, developed by visual artist and Musiscope associate Marie Rademaekers. In her magic lantern workshop Toverlicht (Magic Light) children use overhead and slide projectors and a magic lantern to make their own light and shadow images, and perform a contemporary shadow play.
